Of all “religious” or “sacred” texts in the world, the Bible is easily the most scrutinized, criticized, and analyzed. Even in our highly-interconnected world, where so much information is so readily available, the Bible is talked about more than any other. Few people make movies about “hidden” or “lost” books they think should be in other sacred texts; few argue over whether the gods of other religions are good or bad; few presume the right to hold the followers of other sacred texts to account for not practicing their faith adequately.
The Bible is unique in other ways as well. Only the Bible is composed of about one-third prophecy, and it goes out of its way to provide data by which people can examine those prophecies: names, dates, places, topography, and references to other historical documents. It appeals to reliable eyewitness testimony about its central figure, Jesus the Christ. Speaking of him, only the Bible teaches that God became human, rather than people becoming gods. And the Bible alone teaches salvation (reconciliation with God) solely by faith, rather than by personal effort.
At the very least, the Bible has had significant impact on history, so to ignore the Bible is to be willingly ignorant. This website will help make Bible study more interesting and rewarding by providing resources and reasoning to bring ancient languages, customs, and cultures to life.
